To big distrees in retail box

We managed to get hold of the price for an Atom-based motherboard and CPU. The retail package for an Atom 1.6GHz with 512KB cache FSB533MHz matched with the D945GCLF motherboard will cost US$59, but this is the distributor price. This CPU and motherboard kit will be known as Atom 230.

This board inherits the Celeron 220 that was the best in Intel’s essential series.  If you are after an Intel Atom processor 230 on D945GCLFBoard (Bulk package) you will pay $2 less or $57, but you can expect that this price be a little bit higher in the e-tail and retail stores.

Currently in U.S. e-tail, you pay $74 for the Celeron 220 and Intel BOXD201GLY2A package and you can imagine that the Atom 230 board and CPU will cost close to that, or maybe a bit more, at least initially.

In Europe it should be selling for around €50 to €60 and fill Intel’s pockets with euros.

The launch is in Q2, that's within the next two months.
